In real life. And if you haven’t seen the movie, you should, because it’s purely adorable. You should also see Mary and Max (a recent long-distance movie date pick). It’s very sophisticated clay animation with some heartbreaking (and truly heartwarming) adult themes. (Adult as in drinking, not as in xxx.) And while we’re on the topic of things you should be watching, I really love Modern Family. I laugh out loud at (almost) every episode. And Portlandia (which is relevant not only to Portland, but to any town with a new-agey, greener/hipper/smarter-than-thou tinge (I think we all know a town or two like that)) (oh, and if you’re in grad school, the “did you read?” sketch will make your friends laugh).
It’s Thursday, mid-March, and I’m a student again. Midterms are turned in. Spring break is around the corner, and my boarding pass is printed (I just have to make the epic-but-worth-it trip to Baltimore after a quick training tomorrow) (Also, I checked in precisely 23 hours and 59 minutes before my Southwest flight, and I still only got B22 — how are there 82 people in front of me??). This is the first non-working spring break I’ve had since 2005. I like spring break — Denver is my Cancun this year, a light (non-rain) jacket is my bikini (heck yeah, 60-degree-highs!). And this year, more than ever, I think I need the break.
