Lemon Tree Update

Shortly after I posted about my lemon tree, what leaves were hanging on fell off.  It’s just a bunch of green branches (green being the key word here, the word of hope).  Today it has a blossom!  I think it’s a good sign, but I’m a little paranoid that this little blossom might be something like a Flower of Death, signifying the plant’s last effort at procreation before it begins to die slowly.  It’s probably a good sign.  I’m hoping for leaves next!

I might be jinxing my fantastic reading streak by starting on a book I’ve started on at least three times in the past four or five years.  I will read Simone de Beauvoir’s The Prime of Life this time!!  And I will do it in record time!  I don’t usually start something multiple times — I either read it or I don’t — but this one seems like it will be really good, if only I can get into it…

Hiking today with a librarian friend was really good — we haven’t been so intense about it this summer, and it’s so nice to get out (and up to cooler elevations).  I almost want to go again tomorrow…  Crazy to think that a year ago this weekend is when I hiked Mt. Evans (pictures here), and a year ago next weekend I hiked Mt. Bierstadt (pictures here)!  I guess I just haven’t had time (or, primarily, motivation) to do as much this year…  which is fine.  There are still several weeks of warm weather, and I’ll probably go on a few more hikes…

  1. Hey, I have gotten hung up on Simone too. I think maybe it’s just because I don’t really like her…

“Several weeks of warm weather” – I’m not sure if I should laugh or cry. It was 107 here today, and I am now accustomed to going to the gym in a tank top in January. Do you think I’ll survive the move? Will I perish in the frigid October air?

    Can’t wait to see you!

  3. Oh, you’ll survive. I’m sure your suburban apartment will be air-conditioned, unlike mine! You may have to cover up for those mid-January gym runs, but even then it won’t be too bad! 🙂 I’m excited to see you, too!
