First, a big milestone: On Thursday I finished all of the coursework for my master’s in library and information science. I officially graduate on Saturday!

Second, an annual milestone: I had my first fabulous, ripe peach on Friday. I was surprised — it doesn’t seem so late in the year, but I guess it is June. I also had ripe cherries, blueberries, and blackberries this week. I have no idea where they’re actually coming from, but it gives me a little taste of summer…

Third, probably not yet a “milestone,” as I’m not sure what the outcome will be, but I’m having great green-thumb success lately. I mentioned my shamrock, which has tripled in size. Here are some pictures of what’s it’s done in the past few weeks:

Maybe it’s sort of silly, but this weekend I was visiting with friends from high school — they all pulled out their camera phones and were showing off their pets, and I started talking about my shamrock. They thought it was funny — I was kind of serious.

There’s plenty more to come about friends from high school, the small town I am sort of from (and sort of still a foreigner in)…
