Shadows cast by airplanes flying miles above the ground. Also, shiny reflections cast by the same. From the ground, these are like tiny, stealth clouds flying overhead, or like little sunspots that change the shadows of your living room as though the whole afternoon is caught in a time-lapsed film. From the window seat of a plane, it’s really the only way you can measure how fast you’re going in relation to the ground, and also you get to imagine little shadows and sunspots gliding over people.

I totally agree about the shadows. I’m deadly afraid of flying, but the view is amazing. I love looking at farms from the sky, they create the best designs. My most recent series of geometric “Level” paintings (http://www.iandiart.com/ekwimmerpainting1.html) are what I call “Aerial Abstractions”. You know, little roads and fields. They were inspired by looking out of the window on a plane.
