The Top Secret Catalog

So I rallied tonight and found myself at my favorite Denver bookstore (at least in the non-used category).  I love the place, and yet I have some issues with it.  It’s because my interests are becoming increasingly interdisciplinary.  Where is the book on the psychoanalysis (from afar) of George Bush?  Biography? Humor (though it’s definitely [...]

So tired…

…I’m really tired.  I would like to write, but nothing’s really coming to me.  Good weekend: lots of celebration and art and friends and family and food.  And drink.  They make some tasty mojitos at Sputnik.

Graduation

By the time this posts tomorrow night, I should have been awarded my master’s degree in library and information science. Well, ceremonially, at least — the diploma should arrive in four to six weeks. Exciting.

Passive Aggressive Notes from Strangers

Once upon a time, long, long ago (in “the dark years”), I worked for someone who would leave a lot of notes and then complain that no one ever read them. Sometimes I would work about 50 feet away (maybe) in the front part of our office, and I would return to my desk [...]

Maybe I Can Take Care of Another Living Being…

Left to right: oregano, basil, mint, cilantro.
We’re trying to train the basil to be bushy, but it would prefer to be a tree, I think.

No One Belongs Here More Than You

I finished the book yesterday — it was one of those books where you want to hold off on reading some of the stories so that there are more surprises to come, but I don’t have that kind of discipline (I always finish the short story collections, but only occasionally have the discipline to finish [...]

500 Years of Western Art in under 3 Minutes

I think this is really fantastic.  I think we’re all this beautiful, we’re just not all lucky enough to be painted by masters.
