More Miranda

The obsession with Miranda July continues. Sometimes people Google silly things and end up at my site. Sometimes, especially when I’m procrastinating, I re-Google the search strings and see how they found me. Or my blog. Anyway, if you Google “Zaha Hadid flatware” (without quotes) I am presently the first hit. [...]

aaaarghhhhh

I hate writing papers.  Hate, hate, hate.  Especially when I can’t settle on a topic I’m truly interested in.  I’m ten pages away from graduation, and having a pretty miserable time of it right now.  I’m hoping to be done on Thursday.  We’ll see.  72 hours…
In other news, my lovely shamrock is tripling in size [...]

Flatware by Zaha Hadid

I want to have an “I’m Single for the Forseeable Future” shower.  This will be the first thing on my registry:

Can you believe Zaha Hadid, of architectural fame and fabulousness, has graced the world with her flatware designs?  For more info, visit the New York Times and Unica Home…  discovered via Apartment Therapy.

Who Wants to Go?

I can’t believe this lineup:  Ryan Adams, DeVotchka, and Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter will all be playing on the same evening at Red Rocks…  And also the Old 97’s, who I have only heard one song by, but who I already am intrigued by.
Who wants to go with me?  $37 for four good [...]

How to Write so People Pay Attention, from the Brazen Careerist.  I could probably use some of this advice here.  Thanks for reading, anyway.

The Latest Dietary Villain

Another one of my strong dietary beliefs is questioned in a New York Times article, Jury Is Still Out on Gluten, the Latest Dietary Villain. The article really stacks the experts, who are all MDs, against everyday people who have benefited from not eating gluten. No naturopath or anyone else who might have [...]

The Cleanse…

A friend pointed me to this MSNBC article on the dangers of detox diets.  They sound awful, don’t they?  Starvation, liquid BMs — why would anyone do this?
The truth: I did.  But not quite like this.  Last fall I did an 18-day “cleanse,” which could possibly help with fatigue, depression, and allergies.  I did it [...]

So Subversive…

…so fabulous.

Serra

One reason I need to go to New York this summer:

There’s a 40-year retrospective of Richard Serra’s work at MOMA.  See the New York Times article and slide show.  I love his work.

Miranda July…

…I love her name (can it be real?), and I’m totally loving her debut book, No One Belongs Here More Than You. Instead of doing research for my final paper (probably on either faculty involvement in collection development, or perhaps development of interdisciplinary materials, but it’s hard to say at this point, as I [...]
